This is the archive of photos taken from (or of) Baldy Mountain. We climbed Baldy on day five, and it was one of the highlights of our trip. The mountain gets it's name because its treeless peak pokes above the trees showing off its', well, baldne ss. The mountain is visible from most of the camp. The wind at the peak is unbelievable, there is very little oxygen, and climbing the monstrosity leaves you breathless as it is. Once you are at the top, however, all of that matters very little as you tak e in the view and the knowledge that "everything is downhill from here."

"There's Baldy, which we'll be on in a few days..."

peak.jpg
I'm not certain where this picture was taken, but I believe that it came from immediately outside of Copper Park campsite. That would put this also on the day before we went up Baldy.

"I made it!"

biglake.jpg
This is a large lake that was seen from the peak of Baldy, the same lake that we had driven by on the way into camp almost a week before. It was also a reminder of how high we had climbed...

clouds.jpg
Once you reach the very peak of Baldy the entire sky opens up above you. These are the clouds that seem so near from the highest point Philmont has to offer.

"Just think...we were all the way up there..."

baldytown.jpg
This picture was taken from Baldy Town, the day after climbing Baldy, it was a great location, because not only could you get a great shot of Baldy, but you could see the Tooth of Time, our finishing point, on the horizon.
